Team Presentation and Comparative Shop

Image
Our team presentation was very successful I feel as a group we worked well to gather the information and impute it into a PowerPoint presentation then present to the group putting across our point that was needed. The part that I played in the presentation was putting together our comparative shop. In our creative exchange week I took a trip to River Island and Next to do a personal comparative shop which I uploaded onto my blog but for the presentation I was asked to put together a comparative shop of one certain item from our range and get similar offerings from our competition to decided on a price point, material and sizing range so I did an online comparative shop of blazers from River islands main competition Next, Zara, Topshop and H&M. I feel that the research that I did for our group presentation was of a good standard and that my presentation was confident. As a whole I feel the Flex PLM group simulation has been a good thing to learn about as it is a...

Trend board

Image
Part of our assignment brief asked us to hand in a trend board so I used the skills I had learnt on using InDesign to create my trend board.   This is my final board but this took time and many different decision making processes to get to this point. This wasn’t what I originally started out to create but over the weeks which we had to make the trend board I made certain decisions which lead to a change in ideas and theme but I really like the overall outcome and feel that this trend board was made to the best of my abilities.   My first idea however was to create a more inspirational board which was not as technical or as focused as my final board. I had a whole other colour scheme and I created an initial trend board but after much thought on the idea I decided to change my idea. My first idea was to use red, yellow and blue as my inspiration for my board, this was a off the back of the research I did in...

Adobe

Over the last 12 weeks I have been taught to use Adobe Bridge and Adobe InDesign. Both have been helpful in aiding the design of my trend board, bridge to order the images and sort them and InDesign to put the trend boards’ together. It has been a learning curve using both these applications especially since I learnt to use then on a Mac which is also a new experience to me. Adobe Bridge Bridge was the first adobe application we were given lessons using, learning how to put images into the program which I could then sort through to find the best quality images and to link together images which worked well together. I was also taught to put them into a contact sheet which could then be printed to help us further sort the images. I used Adobe Bridge to create a comp sheet for my first attempt at a trend board, before I put the images onto InDesign I first put them into Bridge and sorted through the images finding the best images which I felt worked well togeth...

Trend Hub and WGSN

I have been using the WGSN and the Trend Hub over the last term to help in the collection of images and resources to aid the making of my Trend boards. My experiences with both have varied and I have used these resources in varied amounts over the 12 weeks. Trend Hub I have used the Trend Hub fewer times than I have used WGSN which means that I don’t have as much experience using all the resources that are available to me in the library.   The times I have used the Trend Hub I have tried to collect many different resources not only images from fashion journal and other fashion related resources, I took time to find related images in art and architecture journals and also upholstery colour resources. I did this so that my trend ideas had more influences, so I could show that my trend took from different areas of living not just what people are wearing, I wanted my trend to have more depth so it wasn’t purely routed in clothing.   I feel that I hav...
